What is included in a typical meeting? |
A:
Short business meeting followed by a class taught by
a member demonstrating
a particular technique. A sample will be on display
the month prior to the class. The class and materials needed will
be
in the newsletter. |

What tools are needed to begin Gourd Art?

A: The
novice gourd crafter can begin with the following items:
- An inexpensive wood
burner
- Acrylic Paints
- Leather Dyes
- Sandpaper
- Exacto Knife |

What are the fees for attending meetings / classes?
|
A:
There is no fee to attend your first
meeting. To join the Channel Islands Gourd Society, we charge
a $25 yearly fee per person
or a $30 yearly fee per family.
CIGS membership fees also include membership in the California
Gourd Society |

Does CIGS have a newsletter?

A:
The CIGS newsletter "The
Gourd Vine" is published monthly.
The California Gourd Society newsletter
is published quarterly which provides:
- Gourd event happenings throughout the state
- Product purchasing information
- Gourd purchasing sites |

What community events does CIGS host?
|
A:
Every year CIGS holds it's annual Spring
Gourd Festival.
- Usually held in May.
- Member Gourd Art is offered for sale
- Gourd Art demonstrations are offered by members
- Entertainment during the day
- Gourd Art donated by members is raffled during the day
- Open to the public |

What participation does CIGS have at the Ventura County Fair?

Every year we have a large number of volunteers host our booth
to
field questions from fairgoers. Our members participate in
the following:

- Gourd Art demonstrations at the Agriculture and the Arts & Crafts
